Lucy Vazquez-Gonzalez, a resilient and empathetic family lawyer, draws strength from her early traumatic experiences, which have not only shaped her but also fueled her commitment to advocating for others. Specializing as a Guardian ad Litem (GAL), Lucy plays a pivotal role in advising the court on matters concerning the well-being and best interests of children, ensuring that their voices are heard. Despite facing childhood abuse, Lucy's determination led her to overcome adversity and achieve remarkable educational milestones.

Early Background & Family Life

 

Lucy obtained her G.E.D. in 1988. She then pursued and completed two associate degrees at Morton College in Cicero, earned a bachelor's degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago, and culminated her academic journey with a Juris Doctor degree from John Marshall Law School, now known as UIC Law School in 2008 . Undeterred by the challenges, in 2017 Lucy established her own law firm, as a testament to her tenacity and dedication. Juggling the responsibilities of managing her law firm and raising three incredible sons and two grandsons, Lucy exemplifies resilience and success. Her personal journey serves as an inspiration, showcasing that one can triumph over adversity and build a thriving career while prioritizing family. In her current role, Lucy extends her influence beyond the courtroom by imparting knowledge to the next generation of legal professionals. As a distinguished adjunct faculty member, she teaches Family Law at the University of Illinois Chicago Law School, sharing her expertise and experiences to mold aspiring lawyers into compassionate and effective advocates.
